A holiday tradition at University Hospitals St. John Medical Center is the naming of officers for the new year and the distribution of donations from monies raised by efforts like SJMC Gift Shop sales.

This year, an incredible $53,493 was donated to a variety of hospital causes.

“Thank you for the incredible job you do,” said UH SJMC President and CEO Rob David to the membership at Wednesday’s Holiday Luncheon held at Avon Oaks Country Club. “Without your efforts, these gifts would not be possible.”

Lynn Maitland, Vice President Mission, and Robert David, President & CEO UH St. John Med-ical Center.

The largest donation went to Community Outreach, where Director Paul Forthofer said much of the $15,000 presented will be used for community health screenings and blood glucose test kits.

Other large gifts are being used to acquire a new cardiac treadmill ($4,865), Physician Care Assistant uniform funding ($4,800), a special therapy system for Speech & Audiology ($3,500), an Emergency Drug and Opiated Education Fund ($2000), Opiate Ed and Naloxone Kits ($2000), a new scale for Cardiovascular Services ($1,576), and Aldi Gift Certificates for Mission & Ministry patient and family support ($1,200).
