University Hospitals Avon Rehabilitation Hospital Ranked in the Top 10 Percent in the Nation for Quality for 2018

University Hospitals Avon Rehabilitation Hospital has been ranked in the 93rd percentile in the nation for quality based on its 2018 quality outcomes by Uniform Data System (UDS). This places UH Avon Rehabilitation Hospital – which is a joint venture between University Hospitals and Kindred Healthcare – among the top 10 percent of facilities in the nation.

The rankings are based on the hospital’s overall quality performance outcomes for 2018, which are measured against 868 acute rehabilitation hospitals and units throughout the country.

UH Avon Rehabilitation Hospital, which opened in January 2016, specializes in acute rehabilitation for those suffering from a debilitating medical or traumatic event. In 2018, UH Avon Rehabilitation Hospital saw 816 patients, mostly from Lorain and Cuyahoga counties. Of those patients, more than 80 percent were discharged back home to their community setting and averaged almost a 4-point improvement in functional independence for every day they were at the hospital – nearly double the national average.
