“Be a Hero, Wear a Mask,” Asks Avon Mayor Bryan Jensen

Our nation is experiencing a pandemic that hasn’t been seen in 100 years. We, along with the rest of the country, are doing the best we can to maneuver our way through this crisis. Unfortunately, the number of cases is starting to climb and the disease is spreading. The City of Avon and Lorain County are no exceptions.

We do not want to see our businesses close or experience another shut down due to the uncontrolled rise in cases. This has a long lasting effect on them as well as us. No community needs to experience this again.

Our front line workers (hospitals and all their personnel, police, fire, grocery stores) have been exposed to this virus for several months. These are our family, friends and neighbors. They have been on the front line, working hard, to help keep us safe. Many of them who had been infected by the virus, fought back and are fighting the battle once again.

It is now time for us, the Avon Community, to step up and do something to help them. We have often referred to these front line workers as “Heroes”. We need to be Heroes for them now. All it takes is wearing a mask when you are out in public. Not only will this help slow the spread of the virus, it tells everybody I’m supporting our front line workers and protecting my family and friends.

Please join me in this fight to protect those who have given so much to safeguard us during this trying time.

Mask mandate is in effect:

  • If you are inside a business, you are REQUIRED to wear a mask
  • If you are outside and can social distance, you do NOT need a mask
