Missing Girl Found in Westlake Motel

Westlake Police located a missing Cleveland girl.

On 6/29/20 officers responded to the area of Columbia Rd just north of I90 after a concerned citizen called to report that she had been talking to a young female who had asked for a ride.  The suspected juvenile appeared disheveled and walked back toward the Super 8 Motel with an adult male.  Officers could not find the juvenile but did not give up and were eventually guided to a particular room at the hotel.  The girl, who turned out to be 16 years old and entered as missing from a foster home in Cleveland, at first told the officers that she was 21.  Investigation revealed that the adult male who had accompanied the juvenile at the hotel had left the scene with some of her property.  The juvenile was uninjured and was returned to the care of Cuyahoga County.  Theft warrants were requested for the 23yo Cleveland resident who had been with the juvenile.  Investigators are following up to determine if additional charges, including human trafficking, are warranted.

Motel Fight reported

On 6/28/20 at approx. 5AM officers were called to the Super 8 Motel for a report of 4-5 people fighting in the parking lot.  Officers interviewed several people who were in the area but found no signs of an altercation.  A vehicle leaving the area was stopped.  Officers noted that 2 young children were in the back seat without car seats and the female operator showed signs of intoxication.  The 26yo Cleveland resident was field tested and arrested for OVI.  Officers returned to the Super 8 and found relatives of the arrested mom who admitted that the earlier quarrel had to do with the female attempting to drive away with her kids in the car.  The children were turned over to the relative and the driver was transported to jail where she tested over the legal limit.  She was charged with OVI and failure to restrain her children properly in the vehicle.  Children’s Services was contacted.

On 6/27/20 at about 6:15PM officers were sent to the parking lot of the Holiday Inn Express on Clemens for a domestic disturbance.  A female called to report that her boyfriend was accosting her after he arrived to pick her up from work.  The male suspect ran from the scene as officers arrived.  With the assistance of a WPD patrol tracking K9 the male was located and taken into custody in the area of Hospice Way.  The 28yo Cleveland resident was charged with assault, resisting arrest and obstruction.  A protection order was also requested through Rocky River Municipal Court.

Drugs, Weapon found

On 6/28/20 at approx. 2PM an officer stopped a vehicle on Hilliard at Regency Cir for equipment and moving violations.  As the officer was speaking with the occupants, he observed signs of drug use in the car.  Investigation revealed suspected marijuana and a scale along with other paraphernalia.  A loaded semi-automatic handgun along with loose ammunition was also found and confiscated.  The 22yo driver from South Euclid admitted that the handgun and other contraband was his.  The case will be presented to the county grand jury for determination of felony charges.
