Concord Reserve’s Annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s

By: Barb Hopkins

The Westlake High School marching band lead Concord Reserve’s campuswide Alzheimer’s Walk on a beautiful warm sunny Friday in October. Concord Reserve residents, their family members & friends, volunteers, and associates from all departments and all neighborhoods (Independent Living, Assisted Living, Memory Support & Health Care) participated in the walk around the campus.

“Thank you to the Westlake Police Department, and our neighbors next door-Dover Intermediate School & Lee Burneson Middle School for supporting our walk & coordinating with us so we could walk through their campus. Their students cheered us on, clapped, blew bubbles & held up handmade signs of encouragement while we crossed back to Dover Center Road & returned to our campus. We had support from Polly Kauffman and the Alzheimer’s Association with pinwheels to decorate our walking route. Afterwards we gathered on Main Street in our Welcome Center for refreshments to celebrate our walk, socialize & rehydrate!”
