Orchestra
The WHS Orchestras recently performed at the OMEA State Orchestra event at Avon High School. Both orchestras received a Superior rating (I). Concert Orchestra performed in Class C and Chamber Orchestra in AA which is the most advanced classification. Students performed 2 required selections and one select piece for a panel of 3 adjudicators and then performed a sight reading piece for an additional adjudicator. Congratulations to both the Orchestras on this accomplishment!
Band
The OMEA District Large Group Adjudicated Event for band took place on March 6th and 7th at Olmsted Falls High School. This is an opportunity for bands to perform in front of a panel of adjudicators in order to gain valuable feedback via written and recorded comments. Each adjudicator also assigns an overall rating from I (Superior) to V. We are proud that Westlake had FIVE bands performing at this event!
- LBMS 7th Grade Band (Junior High Class B)
- LBMS 8th Grade Band (Junior High Class A)
- WHS Concert Band (HS Class C)
- WHS Symphonic Band (HS Class B)
- WHS Wind Ensemble (HS Class AA)
Our LBMS bands were two of only six total middle school bands that performed this weekend, and they earned Superior (I) ratings! They also participated in a sight-reading clinic with a separate adjudicator, which is something that is typically only reserved for high school bands. From WHS, the Concert Band gave a fantastic festival performance and the Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble both earned Superior (I) ratings! Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble are now qualified for the State LGAE and will be performing again at North Royalton High School April 24th-25th. Congratulations to all of our bands on a weekend of great performances and for proudly representing our community!
