Westlake Neighbors Take Bar Fight Back to the House

They just couldn’t leave it alone! On 8/19/18 at 4:20AM Westlake police officers were dispatched to Georgia Dr for a reported disturbance involving neighbors. Evidently, the feuding neighbors had been at a local bar at the same time earlier that morning. An argument began at the bar. One of the neighbors decided to have his daughter park his vehicle in the other neighbor’s driveway thereby blocking in the neighbor’s vehicles. He admitted that he wanted to cause problems for the other person. There were also allegations that this male told the other male’s wife that he would kill him and his whole family. There were several accusations from both sides about assaults and further menacing. The neighbors were told to stay away from each other and a report was taken for the city prosecutor to determine charges.

The 33yo from Westlake was arrested for the paraphernalia and warrant. The investigation of this male led to an apartment on Detroit Rd associated with the arrested person. Additional crack drug paraphernalia and hypodermic needles led to a more in depth investigation. A 12 gauge shotgun and crack cocaine were recovered. The original arrested male was charged with having weapons under disability, a felony of the 3rd degree.

Alert System Saves Senior Citizen

On 8/23/18 at approx. 10:17 AM, WPD received an alert notification from the department’s “Are You OK?” system indicating that a senior citizen who had signed up for daily check-in phone calls had not picked up the phone. Officers responded to the 84yo’s house to check on her and found that she was on the floor of her house unable to get up. Luckily she was conscious and relatively unharmed but had been on the floor for approx. 17 hours. She was transported to the hospital and relatives were contacted. It is a good example of the effectiveness of The City of Westlake’s system to check on its vulnerable population. You can sign up through the Community Services Department.
