Westlake Girls XC Places 1st; Qualifies for the State Meet

“Despite being the front-runner to take home the Regional title, it still felt incredibly good to be named the winner,” said Coach Sullivan after the Westlake High School Girls Cross Country team officially secured the title win. “These girls didn’t just win, they dominated…again.  Westlake scored only 63 points to Shaker Heights 125 who came in second place.

“Now we really are in the record books!” Boasted Senior Co-Captain Sydney Peer.  In the 45-year history of the program, this is the first regional trophy the team has brought home.

Sarah Peer was the meet runner-up behind the state’s #1 ranked runner with Sydney Peer coming in 7th place.  Ellie Irwin crossed at 11th place,  Julia Richards 23rd, and Christina Ware 31st to finalize the scoring for the Demons.  Sarah, Sydney, and Ellie were named to Ohio MileSplits Elite Performance list. Maggie Hennessey (66th) and Sarah Colman (153rd) did their part to help to displace runners and widen the Demon’s win-gap.

The lady Demons head to the State competition this Saturday, November 5th.  They are currently ranked 3rd.
