Hoops for Hunger Raises $34,000
What the ‘Buzz’ is all about…

Bay High School, Bay Middle School, Rocky River High and Rocky River Middle School had a friendly fundraising competition to fill the cupboards of Cleveland Food Bank. Students and staff held a variety of activities to raise money and collect food, including a raffle to win dinner for four at Brio Tuscan Grill and a can collection competition to win a breakfast at Panera for a class. Students were doubly rewarded when Rocky River Middle School principal Samuel Gifford, Bay Middle School principal Sean McAndrews, Rocky River Middle School teacher Kevin Zerbey and Bay athletic director Matt Spellman had their heads shaved on the court during halftime at the February 18 River/Bay varsity boys’ basketball game. The four schools exceeded their $30,000 goal by about $4,000.
