A 20-year-old Avon man tried to break into his parents’ Devonshire Ov. home through a laundry room door on Jan. 20 at 9:37PM. He had threatened his sister by phone when she refused to give him a ride earlier that day. The suspect was gone upon police arrival. He was later found at a home in Avon and arrested for Attempted Burglary and Domestic Violence.
A 28-year-old Westlake man failed to show for a hearing in RRMC on Jan. 22. When his 40-year-old Westlake girlfriend was called in an attempt to locate him, she stated that he was with her. Whoops. He is under a TPO issued last September to stay away from her. So, a capias for missing his court date was issued, plus he was charged with a new offense of Violating a TPO. He was arrested on both offenses later that day.
A Regency Cr. man received a letter on Jan. 4 from the IRS asking if he had really moved to Dallas, TX. Since he had not, he called the IRS at the number listed; he was then informed that an unknown suspect had filed a 2012 tax return using his name and the Dallas address. After he made a follow-up call to the IRS, he was requested to make a report with WPD, which he did on Jan. 23.
An Ashbourne Dr. woman discovered the theft of her purse and an assortment of gift cards and cash (total value $2145) from her home on Jan. 24. She believes the theft took place on Jan. 10 and suspects her cleaners; the investigation continues.
A $700 Iphone belonging to a Cleveland woman was stolen on Jan. 24 between 11AM and 2:30PM. It was taken from her unattended jacket while she was at a Detroit Rd. restaurant for a seminar.
An 8:07PM argument over infidelity led to the arrest of a 39-year-old Durham Dr. woman on Jan. 24. She had bitten her 40-year-old husband’s hands; she faces Domestic Violence charges.
An alert citizen reported 2 suspects looking into cars at Ballys on Jan. 26 at 6:53PM. A 25-year-old Lakewood woman was arrested on a Fairview Park PD warrant and cited for DUS. Her 30-year Cleveland man companion was IDed and sent on his way. Shortly thereafter, 2 cars were reported broken into at Inner Bliss yoga studio on Clemens Rd. The respective officers compared notes and determined that the incidents were likely related. The suspect’s car was impounded and a search warrant obtained the next day.
That search yielded 2 credit cards and 2 gift cards that had been stolen on Jan. 26 from the cars at Inner Bliss, as well as small purses and bags and a window punch. Among items removed from the female prisoner at the jail, a brush and other small items taken in a previous theft from auto (also at Ballys) were located and IDed by the owner. Each suspect will face 2 counts of Criminal Damaging, 2 counts of Possession of Criminal Tools (the window punch and the car they drove), and 3 counts of Felony Theft.
A 49-year-old Westlake man and a 27-year-old Cleveland woman caused a drunken ruckus at a Detroit Rd. drug store on Jan. 26 at 9:53PM. Officers found the male shouting at the rear of the store and arrested him for DCI. The female was belligerent and told the officers “just arrest me.” OKAY! Let’s call it DCI and an unrelated WPD traffic warrant.
A 39-year-old Southbridge Cr. woman reported that her intoxicated 41-year old husband attacked her on Jan. 27 at 3:16PM. They had argued over his drinking and he choked her with the scarf she was wearing. He was arrested for DV.
