Washington, DC — Today, Chairman Dave Camp (MI-4) announced U.S. Representative Jim Renacci (OH-16) had been appointment to the House Committee on Ways and Means.
“It is an absolute honor to be named to the House Ways and Means Committee,” said Rep. Renacci. “As a Certified Public Account and business owner, I have dealt firsthand with the complexity of our tax code and its more than 4 million words. Both Congressional Republicans and Democrats – and even President Obama – agree we must reform our massive, confusing and inefficient system of taxation. I look forward to bringing my expertise to the front lines of how we can accomplish that goal.”
Announcing his selection as the final Republican to join the Committee Camp said, “Congressman Renacci’s background as a small business owner means that he understands how policies written in Washington can affect the daily decisions a business makes about hiring, investing and contributing to their local economy. That first-hand knowledge, along with his legislative experience, makes him a valuable addition to our talented team of policymakers.”
The Ways and Means Committee is the oldest in both chambers of Congress and is the chief tax-writing committee in the House of Representatives. Rep. Renacci joins U.S. Representative Pat Tiberi (OH-12) as the only Ohio members of the Committee. As a result of this appointment, and due to rules governing House committee membership, Rep. Renacci will leave the House Committee on Financial Services and the House Committee on the Budget.
Rep. Renacci is serving his second term in the U.S. House of Representatives, where he is a member of the Ways and Means Committee. Prior to his election he worked as a Certified Public Accountant in the health care industry, and owned and operated over 60 other businesses in the automotive and sports management fields.
