Bay Village Police Blotter

On 04/21/2013, at 0251 hours, a Bay Village PD officer stopped a vehicle on Kenilworth near Lake Rd. for a traffic violation.  After speaking to the female driver, the officer suspected the driver had been drinking.  Field sobriety tests were administered, and as a result, the 36 yoa female driver was arrested for OVI.  She will face charges at Rocky River Municipal Court.


On 04/20/2013, at 1456 hours, a Knickerbocker resident called to report of juvenilemales playing in the dumpster area of Munro Muffler.  Police located the group and discovered they were attempting to fix a flat tire on one of their bikes.  They were advised of trespassing laws and sent on their way.


On 04/20/2013, at 1557 hours, a resident reported fire damage to one of the bathrooms at Reese Park.  Police located some burnt toilet paper in one of the bathroom stalls and some melted plastic on the ground outside the building.  There was minor damage to both the interior and exterior where the fires were lit.  A report was filed on the matter.


On 04/19/2013, at 2155 hours, a Manchester resident reported that someone had stolen 3 cans of beer out of the refrigerator in his garage in the last 20 minutes.  Officers checked the area, but were unable to locate the thieves.


On 04/19/2013, at 1500 hrs, a resident in the 28000 block of Knickerbocker reported she had been scammed out of $4,800.00.  A person called her and told her she had won $3 million in the lottery, and just needed to pay the taxes to collect her winnings.  She purchased gift cards and gave them the card info over the phone.  BVPD reminds residents to be very cautious of scams over the phone and on the internet.


On 04/17/2013, at 2300 hrs, a Lincolnshire resident reported that his house had been forcibly entered sometime in the last 10 hours.    Numerous valuables were taken.  Police are investigating.


On April 18, 2013, a resident on Wolf Rd reported that his home was forcibly entered sometime with the last 24 hours and numerous items were stolen.  Police are investigating.  No determination has been made yet whether this burglary is related the Lincolnshire burglary on 4/17/2013.


A Wolf Road family reported on April 17, 2013 that jewelry was stolen from their home.  The believed the theft occurred sometime in the last 6 months.  Detectives are investigating.
