Meadowood Golf course was vandalized on the night of June 23. A controller for the sprinkler system was damaged, as were greens, flags, and trash cans. A disgusting sicko even moved his bowels into the fifth hole. That’s a sign of a perverted or deeply disturbed person. Get some mental help quick.
A number of bicycles were found missing from a Westown Blvd. common carport around June 23. Two owners have come forward to file reports about 1) a cobalt blue men’s mountain model, value $80 and 2) a 20in Next Stastic BMX, black/silver/turquoise, value $50. The locks securing them had been cut and a taunting note left behind. A suspect was interviewed and denied involvement.
A $300 cellphone was stolen from a Detroit Rd. business on June 25. It belonged to an employee; a would-be customer is a suspect. The investigation continues.
A $500 Thule 2-bicycle rack was stolen off the roof of a Trotters Ridge man’s Kia Rio on the night of June 25. It had been parked in his apartment lot; no suspects.
2 carnival workers (21-year-old Lorain man and 24-year-old Cleveland man) taunted each other with racial and sexual slurs on June 26 at 3:40PM while setting up at St. Bernadette church. It came to blows after 2 days of verbal exchanges; the City Prosecutor will review the report for possible charges.
A hitchhiker was reported on I90 westbound on June 26 at 1:30PM. Turns out he was a 32-year-old Japanese national heading for Chicago. After being cautioned about our Occidental ride-thumbing laws and given a lift in a WPD cruiser to a truck stop in Avon, we bade him sayonara.
A home under construction on Bur Oak Dr. was the scene of an overnight theft of tools. Unknown suspect(s) kicked in a wall of the locked house on the night of June 26 and took hand and power tools belonging to several workers; they are compiling an inventory. A U Haul truck was seen nearby around 11PM on June 26.
A 57-year-old Westlake man was arrested at his Bailus Rd. home for RSP-Motor Vehicle on the morning of June 27. He had been fired and took his Cleveland employer’s 2001 Mazda station wagon home. The truck was returned to the owner at the arrest scene; Cleveland PD will also have charges against him. The suspect had been contacted by phone by WPD beforehand and ended the call by saying that police would just have to arrest him. Have it your way, sir.
2 wallets were stolen from patrons at a Main St. bar on June 27 between 8P-10P. A Westlake woman’s credit card was used to get a $3500 cash advance at the casino in Cleveland. Security there was able to provide surveillance recordings of the suspects. The second victim (from Strongsville) cancelled her credit cards before any illicit use. The suspects are described as:
#1 Black male late 50’s with a mustache, eyeglasses about 5’06” with a big belly wearing a short sleeve shirt and black or denim shorts
#2 Black female tall and skinny dark long hair mid 20’s to 30 years old.
#3 white female, late 40s, blond to auburn hair, wearing a long sundress, flip flops, and a jean jacket. She also wore eyeglasses and her hair was up in a clip. The investigation continues.
An intoxicated 13-year-old Westlake girl was arrested for DCI on June 27 at 10:24PM after creating a disturbance at Dover Center and Detroit Rds. She was turned over to her parents; a 16-year-old Westlake boy with her was cited for Possession of Marijuana and turned over to his mother. Two other juveniles present who did not indulge any taste for intoxicants of any sort were sent home with a parent without any charges.
A mattress that had been put out for trash collection on Hedgewood Dr. was found burning at 2:52AM on June 28. A passerby reported the fire and it was extinguished by WPD and WFD personnel. The cause is unknown.
