More than 330 people turned out for North Coast Health Ministry’s Celebration of Caring on Thursday, August 29, 2013, at LaCentre. Over $160,000 was raised through the event, which represents more than 10 percent of the organization’s operating budget and will be used to support the life-saving health care NCHM provides.

“We are very grateful for the outpouring of support we received,” says NCHM Executive Director Lee Elmore. “It is heartening to know there are so many in our community who share our concern for the needs of the low-income uninsured and are willing to join our efforts to be their connection to good health.”

The event was co-chaired by Carol Gress, Wendy Kieding, and Kathe Serbin. Honorary Chairs were Ray and Diana Marvar. The winner ticket for the Hilton Grand Vacation was drawn that evening. The winning ticketholders were John and Ruth Meyerhoffer of Bay Village.

At the event, the following awards were presented:

  • Community Champion Award: Dr. and Mrs. Michael and Kathy Smith
  • Partner Award: Kaiser Permanente and the Mt. Sinai Health Care Foundation
  • Hahn/Hoeffler/Sanders Memorial Award for Outstanding Medical Volunteers: Fred Jorgensen, MD, and Margaret Richmond, RN
