A $1200 laptop was taken off a desk in a Sperry Dr. office sometime after 5PM on Sept. 19. There were no signs of forced entry to the building when the theft was noticed the next morning; no suspects.
An E. Churchill Ln. woman reported that her ex-husband was at her front door on Sept. 20 at 8:06PM creating a scene. He was there to pick up their children for a weekend visitation when one of the kids refused to go. He was asked to leave by the woman’s current husband; the city prosecutor will consider a possible trespass charge.
A 44-year-old Sheffield Lake woman got her steeplejack (and her drink) on at an ex-beau’s Detroit Rd. condo on Sept. 24 at 5:43PM. She was seen trying to climb up to his 2nd floor balcony and was found with an open can of beer; she was arrested for DCI. The ex requested that she be advised to stay away from his home.
A 56-year-old Wyndgate Ct. man was arrested for Domestic Violence on Sept. 29 after an 11:07PM fight with his 51-year-old wife. They had argued over a cellphone when he pushed her to the floor and held her there; she bit him to free herself. The woman sustained a lip injury and did not want to press charges or sign for a TPO.
Lock it or Lose it
A $75 purse was taken from an unlocked 2004 Ford Focus that was parked at Burneson Middle School. It was taken between 5:30PM-6:45PM on Sept. 20 and contained cash and a credit card. The 19-year-old Westlake victim cancelled her card before it could be used.
A Sperrys Forge Trail resident startled a thief on Sept. 26 at 3:14AM as he rummaged through her car, which was parked in the driveway. The white male in his 20s wearing a white tee shirt ran off with the victim’s Coach purse; it contained $7 cash and personal papers. Officers could not locate him. The purse (sans cash) was found that afternoon behind a Detroit Rd. condo garage.
Staff at a Detroit Rd. bar took the car keys from an intoxicated 60-year-old Fairview Park woman on Sept. 21 at 11:01PM. She was uncooperative with them and WPD officers who responded and was arrested for DCI.
At 11:20PM on Sept. 21, employees of another Detroit Rd. bar reported that they had kicked an intoxicated male and female out; the duo caused a commotion while leaving and the woman hit a window with her purse. This 41-year-old Westlake woman was found across the street at a pizza place and became belligerent with the officers; she was arrested for DCI. The 36-year Fairview Park man with her found that keeping calm and politely answering questions got him a ride to a friend’s nearby home.
A 39-year-old North Olmsted man was not going to let some barricades and a water line break interfere with his drive on Dover Center Rd. on Sept. 22 at 5:15PM. An officer watched him drive around the “Road Closed” sign and stopped him. The smell of marijuana wafted out of the driver’s window and led to the discovery of some reefer in a baggie. He was will receive summonses for Seat Belt Required, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (a vaporizer).
An 18-year-old Euclid man was so engrossed in his Sept. 22 cell phone conversation that that he took the price tag off a $24 sweatshirt and wore it out of a Crocker Pk. Blvd. store (without stopping to pay for it) at 5:34PM. This was not well-received by the staff, who detained him outside. He was arrested for Petty Theft.
A 22-year-old Westlake woman left her wallet and cell phone on a table at a Dover Center Rd. bar at 12:30AM on Sept. 23 while she bought drinks. They were gone when she came back. No suspects.
A Willow Run man was contacted by the IRS on Sept. 23 as a result of his identity being fraudulently used by a group of suspects to file false 2011 and 2012 income tax returns. The Feds will handle the investigation; a WPD report was filed in case the ID theft causes other problems for the victim.
An E. Crossing Pl. woman discovered that 6 of her personal checks totaling $3000 had been forged beginning on Sept. 20. They were made out to 2 persons she does not know; she found her checkbook missing on Sept. 28 and does not know where it was taken from.
An intoxicated 39-year bicyclist having trouble keeping his balance refused help from passers-bye on Sept. 29 at 3:54PM. The North Olmsted man fell off the bike on the Clague Rd. overpass and was arrested for DCI. His backpack was found to be stuffed with bottled and canned beer.
