Avon Lake’s wrestling programs will likely move up the charts in the next few years thanks to the presence of The Avon Lake Wrestling Club.

The Club has made a commitment to its students by bringing in two outstanding former collegiate wrestlers who now coach in the youth program.

Marcus Effner and Anthony Coleman, both Cleveland State grads and NCAA qualifiers as Vikings are on board. Effner’s dad, Jack Effner, was the CSU head coach while Marcus, a state champ from Garfield High, participated collegiately. Coleman, a state champ from Bellevue High, was a two-time NCAA qualifier as a Viking.
