7:30pm – Avon Eagles (12-0) vs. Medina Highland Hornets (12-0)

This Regional Final at Brunswick Auto Mart Stadium pits two undefeated teams.

Avon is looking to reach their second state final, losing in the 2011 title game. This season they have outscored their opponents by an average of 25 points and knocked off a scrappy Perrysburg team in the Division II regional semifinals last week. Head Coach Mike Elder pushes the Eagles to play every play of every game. They execute well on offense, play stout defense and have great special teams.

Highland Coach Tom Lombardo is no stranger to the playoffs, leading the 2001 Lake Catholic Cougars to a state title. Now in his seventh year at Highland, the Hornets pride themselves on defense, holding opponents to 14 points a game and averaging more than two turnovers a contest. Getting to the regional finals wasn’t easy for the undefeated Hornets, who had to hold off the legendary Massillon program to get to the regional finals for the second time in six seasons.
