St. Mary of the Woods in Avon celebrated the holidays with a very special Open House last Saturday.
Guests and residents were treated to great food, friendship and entertainment.
A very special treat was an appearance by the noted Avon Lake High School singing group The Merples.
The Merples are a 16-member group that performs many public and private concerts, especially during the holiday season. The ensemble is highly praised, and has even been on all local Cleveland television stations (WKYC, WEWS, WOIO, and WJW). Traditionally, on Valentine’s Day the merples perform “Merplegrams”, as requested by students, to other students for a small fee. Students may purchase a “Merplegram” for their boyfriend, girlfriend, friend, and even teachers and administrators.
Noted Cleveland historian Dan Ruminski also gave a talk on memories of Cleveland’s past.
Guests also dined on gourmet appetizers courtesy of St. Mary of Wood’s excellent culinary staff. Tours of this leading senior living facility were also offered.
