(Cleveland/Lorain, February 10, 2014) With a commitment to make health care easier, both HealthSpan and Mercy in Lorain County have announced a partnership to provide better care at a more affordable price and keep people healthier. Beginning in January, HealthSpan’s Signature and Traditional HMO plans expanded to include the services and employed providers of Mercy.
“This addition provides members of HealthSpan’s HMO plans with more health care options and greater access to physicians, hospitals and health care services,” said Ken Page, President HealthSpan Integrated Care. “The decision to add Mercy to HealthSpan’s network was done in the best interest of HealthSpan members, especially those living and working in western Cuyahoga and Lorain counties.”
HealthSpan members now have expanded options and enhanced access to the high quality Mercy health system network, located throughout Lorain County. This includes over 50 providers through Mercy Health Physicians, Mercy Regional Medical Center, Mercy Allen Hospital, and care delivered by Mercy New Life Hospice, Mercy Cancer Center, Mercy Diagnostic Centers and other outpatient services.
“Mercy is committed to improving the health of our community by delivering high quality, compassionate care that is easily accessible”, said Edwin Oley, CEO and President of Mercy. “We are excited to partner with HealthSpan to offer more members of our community the opportunity to experience Mercy providers and services.”
The partnership enables Mercy and HealthSpan physicians to provide high quality patient care, share best practices and gain experience and understanding in each other’s models of care. Both healthcare organizations offer Medical Home based primary care programs and have shared beliefs and commitments to Northeast Ohio to make a positive impact on health care delivery in this region.
