Bay Gunfire Leads to Arrest

Bay Police responded to a report of gunshots on April 14 at  1316 hours. A resident in the 28000 block of Osborn called to report he heard several gunshots coming from a neighbor’s house on Osborn.  Officers responded to area and located the house in question.  After an investigation, officers determined a 19 yoa resident had fired several blank rounds from a handgun that was modified to shoot blanks only out of his bedroom window.  The male was taken into custody without incident.  He will face charges at RRMC for Inducing Panic, Obstructing Official Business, and Discharging a Firearm.

Mover reportedly  takes “Collateral”

On 04/13/2014, at 1814 hrs, an Eagle Cliff resident called to report he was having a problem with a mover.  The mover was demanding more money than they had contracted for, and in turn, took two of the caller’s bicycles as “collateral” until the mover received payment.  Police are investigating.

Disorderly Conduct/Intox

On 04/15/2014, at 1810 hrs, a Cahoon resident called to report her neighbor had been drinking, and had just left his house northbound on Cahoon in his car.  Officers checked the area, but were unable to locate the vehicle.  At 1852 hrs, she called back, and stated the male was now at her door trying to get into the house.  The 43 yoa male was subsequently arrested for Disorderly Conduct-Intox, and Resisting Arrest.  He will face charges at RRMC.

House Egged

On 04/18/2014, at 0820 hrs, a Buchanan resident called BVPD to report his house had been egged overnight.  He called back later to state his house had been damaged by the eggs.  Police are investigating.


On 04/18/2014, at 0124 hrs, a BVPD officer stopped a vehicle on Lake Rd. near Dover Center for a traffic violation.  After speaking with the driver, the officer suspected the 43 yoa male driver had been drinking.  Field sobriety tests were administered, and as a result, the Westlake resident was arrested for OVI.  He will face charges at RRMC.

On 04/18/2014, at 2301 hrs, Westlake PD reported they received a call from a motorist about a possible OVI northbound on Bassett entering Bay Village.  BVPD received two other calls about the same vehicle.  Officers located the vehicle on Porter Creek and stopped it.  After speaking with the 23 yoa male driver, officers suspected the driver had been drinking.  Field sobriety tests were administered, and as a result, the Westlake resident was arrested for OVI.  He will face charges at RRMC.


On 04/13/2014, at 0037 hrs, a Breezewood resident called BVPD to report there was a person banging on his door claiming there was an emergency.  BVPD responded and discovered the person knocking on the door was actually a delivery person.  The caller had forgotten he ordered the items.


On 04/13/2014, at 1037 hrs, a resident in the 27000 block of Bruce reported someone had thrown lawn ornaments into her pond.  There was no damage caused by the incident.

Door Unsecured

On 04/14/2014, at 1220 hrs, a Columbia resident called to report his neighbor’s door was standing open.  Police responded and the checked the interior.  Everything appeared ok.  BVPD reminds resident to please call immediately if you spot anything suspicious.

Active Warrant

On 04/16/2014, at 1044 hrs, a BVPD officer stopped a vehicle on Bradley near Wolf because the owner of the vehicle had a suspended driver’s license and had an active warrant with Solon PD.  The owner was driving.  He was cited for Driving Under Suspension and will face charges at RRMC.  He was also taken into custody on the strength of the warrant from Solon PD, and subsequently transported to Solon.
