Bay Police: Three Strikes and You’re Arrested

Hiding in a back yard near the Cliff and Clague Road intersection proved to be the third strike for a motorist in Bay Village. On 08/17/2014, at 1434 hrs, a BVPD officer observed a red Ford Taurus parked, unoccupied, diagonally across the intersection of Clague Road and Cliff Drive. At 1435 hrs a nearby resident reported a male in front of his house, “acting very strange”. At 1445 hrs officers found the male hiding in the backyard at 484 Clague Road. He was taken into custody and charged with Criminal Trespass. Investigation revealed the male had been driving the Ford Taurus when it ran out of gas. He had tried to avoid officers because he had no driver’s license.

Lawn Equipment Heisted

On 08/17/2014, at 1630 hrs, a resident on East Oviatt Road discovered someone had taken his lawnmower and leaf blower from his front yard. He had been working in the front and went around to work in the backyard. Upon his return he noticed the items were gone. BVPD is investigating.

Fake ID

On 08/15/2014, at 1440 hrs, the owner of the Convenient Food Mart called BVPD to report someone had attempted to purchase beer with a fake ID.  When the clerk asked for another form of identification, the juvenile male stated it was a fake ID, and left the store.  Officers eventually identified the male, and charged him with Attempted Underage Purchase of Alcohol.  He will face charges at CCJC.

ID Theft

On 08/11/2014, at 1545 hrs, a Rexford resident contacted BVPD to report someone had attempted to file a tax return using her husband’s social security number.  Police are investigating.

OVI

On 08/12/2014, at 0309 hrs, a BVPD officer stopped a vehicle on Lake Rd. near Porter Creek for a traffic violation.  After speaking with the 30 yoa female driver, the officer suspected she was under the influence of drugs.  Field sobriety tests were administered, and as a result, the Avon Lake resident was arrested for OVI.  She will face charges at RRMC.

Another OVI

On 08/15/2014, at 2115 hrs, a motorist called BVPD to report a possible OVI on Lake Rd. near Clague.  Officers located the vehicle and stopped it on Lake Rd. near Dover Center.  After speaking with the 66 yoa female driver, the officer suspected the driver was under the influence of drugs.  Field sobriety tests were administered, and as result, the Lakewood resident was arrested for OVI.  She will face charges at RRMC.

And Another OVI

On 08/17/2014, at 0052 hrs, a BVPD officer stopped a vehicle just into Westlake on Cahoon Road. After speaking with the 32 yoa male, the officer suspected he was under the influence of alcohol. Field sobriety tests were administered, and as a result, the Westlake resident was arrested for OVI. He will face charges at RRMC.
