Bay Police: Wake Up Call at Red Light

On 11/23/2014, at 0030 hrs, a motorist reported there was a male passed out behind the wheel of a truck on Wolf Road at Clague in Bay Village.  Officers responded and discovered the male was passed out with his foot on the brake.  After several minutes, officers were able to wake the male.  When he woke up he took his foot off the brake, and crashed into a police cruiser that had been positioned to keep him from driving through the intersections.  The male was highly intoxicated, and unable to perform sobriety tests.  The 36 yoa Fairview Park man was arrested for OVI.  He will face charges at RRMC.

Watch Your Packages

On 11/18/2014, at 1714 hrs, a resident in the 29000 block of Lake Rd. reported she had a package stolen from her front porch earlier in the day. Police are investigating. On 11/20/2014, at 1414 hrs, the Post Office called BVPD to report a resident had dropped off three opened packages she located laying in the street.  The owners of the packages were contacted, and all of their property was returned to them.  Police are investigating. A resident in the 28000 block of Lake Rd. reported to Bay Police last week that she had two packages stolen off of her front porch.  She checked shortly after their scheduled delivery time.  Numerous other residents reported packages stolen of their porches throughout the week.

BVPD reminds residents that the holiday season Is quickly approaching.  If you ordered merchandise and are having it delivered to your house, track your packages online so you know exactly when they will be delivered.  If you are not available to get them immediately, see if they can be somewhere where they can be picked up immediately, or make arrangements to have someone pick them up for you.

‘Tis the Season

On 11/21/2014, at 0020 hrs, a BVPD officer stopped a vehicle on Wolf Rd. near Sutcliff for a traffic violation.  After speaking with the 49 yoa male driver, the officer suspected the driver had been drinking.  Field sobriety tests were administered, and as a result, the Cleveland resident was arrested for OVI.  He will face charges at RRMC.

On 11/22/2014, at 0053 hrs, a BVPD officer stopped a vehicle on Cahoon Rd. near Lake Rd. for a traffic violation.  After speaking with the 36 yoa female driver, the officer suspected the driver had been drinking.  Field sobriety tests were administered, and as result the Bay Village resident was arrested for OVI.  She will face charges at RRMC.

On 11/22/2014, at 1608 hrs, an East Oviatt resident called to report her girlfriend was intoxicated, and driving around town.  Officers located her parked on East Oviatt.  After speaking with her, officers suspected she had been drinking.  Field sobriety tests were administered, and as result, the 63 yoa Richmond Hts. resident was arrested for OVI.  She will face charges at RRMC.

Crash? What Crash?

A BVPD officer stopped a vehicle on Lake Rd. at Clague at 1:30 am. one early morning last week for a traffic violation.  While speaking with the 32 yoa male driver, the officer observed the vehicle had recently been involved in a crash.  The rear window was shattered, the trunk was caved in, there was severe damage to the rear right quarter panel, and the front bumper was missing.  The driver denied any knowledge of a crash, and said there was nothing wrong with his car.    The officer also suspected the driver had been drinking.  Field sobriety tests were administered, and as result, the Westlake resident was arrested for OVI.  He will face charges at RRMC.  The object the driver struck (most likely a pole) was never located.

Family Reunion

On 11/22/2014, at 0318 hrs, a Kenilworth resident called BVPD to report her estranged son had just kicked in the side door of her house.  Responding officers located the 21 yoa male standing in the driveway.  He was arrested for Criminal Damaging and possession of Drug Paraphernalia.  He will face charges at RRMC.

 

 

On 11/21/2014, at 1753 hrs, an Eaton Way resident called BVPD to report her house had been burglarized during the day while she was at work.  Several small electronic devices were taken.  Police are investigating.

 

On 11/21/2014, at 1957 hrs, a Juneway resident called to advise she had two unlocked bicycles stolen from her yard overnight.
