Bay Village Police: Christmas Crimes Spike with Porch Thefts

Christmas Crimes are spiking in Bay Village thanks to the thefts of convenience for the Grinches of the world.

On 12/08/2014, at 1827 hrs, a Speedway employee called BVPD to report that a male had just stolen the donation jar for the “Children’s Miracle Network” from their register counter.  The jar contained an unknown amount of money, and was later found empty in the front yard of residence on Lake Forest.  Police are investigating.

On 12/10/2014, at 2101 hrs, a Northfield resident called BVPD to report five packages were stolen off of his front porch earlier in the week. Police are investigating.

On 12/11/2014, at 3:47pm, a Longbeach Parkway resident called police to report packages were stolen off of her porch. The resident reported seeing a suspect, described as female with dark colored hair, enter a tan four-door sedan fleeing the area. Police are investigating.

On 12/08/2014, at 1603 hrs, a Parkside resident called BVPD to report someone had used her bank card fraudulently to purchase approximately $170.00 in merchandise at various locations. Police are investigating.

On 12/10/2014, at 0100 hrs, a BVPD officer stopped a vehicle on Breezewood near Lake Rd. for a traffic violation.  After speaking with the 63 yoa female driver, the officer suspected the driver had been drinking.  Field sobriety tests were administered, and as a result, the Avon resident was arrested for OVI.  She will face charges at RRMC.
