Why do the holidays bring out the worst in some people? Westlake Police report that a 41-year-old Hidden Acres man, his 40-year-old wife, and their 17-year-old son all fought on Dec. 22 at 9:53 PM over the teenager’s not staying in touch. Sonny bit dad after dad put him in a headlock, mom threw a shoe at sonny and hit him with a snow shovel, sonny threw a milk crate at mom and hit dad with a curtain rod. The primary aggressor could not be determined and so the City Prosecutor will review the case.
A 39-year-old Bradley Rd. hit his wife, refused to ID himself, and resisted arrest on Dec. 19 at 9:38 AM. He also had two active warrants (one WPD, one BVPD) and is on probation for an Oct. 2014 DV conviction. He spat all over the inside of the cruiser and smeared his own waste around his cell. This new DV arrest is a felony on account of his prior conviction for that offense. Immigration and Customs Enforcement placed a holder on his; and he was transferred to the Cuyahoga County jail on Dec. 23.
Former roommates at a Clague Rd. home got into a fight on Christmas at 2:17PM. The 31-year-old male ex-resident had come by to pick up some property and argued with a 44-year-old man, who hit him. The younger man suffered a dislocated shoulder during the fray and was transported by WFD to St. John Medical Center. The older man was arrested for Assault.
A 57-year-old Avon Lake man planned to self-medicate with marijuana while being treated at St. John Medical Center on Dec. 17 at 4:51PM. Staff found his pot and notified WPD; he was cited for Possession of Marijuana.
A Broadview Hts. man reported a case of ID Theft on Dec. 19. Someone took out a $5000 loan in his name and never made any payments, prompting a call from the loan company to the victim. A coworker at his Clemens Rd. employer was the victim of a similar offense on the same date and for the same amount through the same loan company.
Two trucks were broken into on the night of Dec. 18 at a Sharon Dr. company. The battery was taken from one and tools from the other after the passenger door handles were forced open.
A 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser broke down on I90 eastbound near Clague Rd. on Dec. 19 at 9:57PM. The 61-year-old Cleveland man (owner and the driver) was arrested for OVI; the license plate on the car had been stolen in Cleveland. He refused a breath test and has a suspended license. He faces OVI, Fictitious License Plates, DUS, and RSP charges. His intoxicated passenger (37-year-old Cleveland man) was arrested for DCI.
A Saddlebrook Ln. woman had all 4 wheels stolen off her 2013 Honda Civic between 2AM-4AM on Dec. 20.Estimated. loss is $1000.
$570 cash was taken from a North Olmsted woman’s purse while she attended services and volunteered at a Detroit Rd. church on the morning of Dec. 21.
$132 cash and gift cards were taken from the unlocked cashbox at a Detroit Rd. medical office. Most of the cash was found missing on Dec. 19; the remainder and the gifts cards were taken over the following weekend.
Cleaners working in a Crocker Rd. office building were cleaned out of $415 cash while working on the evening of Dec. 22. They suspect two persons who were loitering on the first floor and acting peculiarly: a black female in a pink hoodie and eyeglasses as well as black male wearing dark pants and a hoodie. The money had been in the victims’ coats in a closet.

A 28-year-old Weymouth Cr. man likes to make a racket at late hours, most recently on Dec. 23 at 11:14PM. He refused to answer the door when officers arrived, but did shut up and turn off the TV after they knocked for 10 minutes. He gets a Noise Disturbance summons for Christmas from WPD. That will go nicely with the warrants WPD and Medina County Sheriff Ofc already have for him.
An intoxicated 42-year-old Kimberly Ln. man was arrested for DV after he hit his 35-year-old live-in girlfriend on Dec. 24 at 2AM. He then sought solace at a Center Ridge Rd. bar, where he was found slumped on an outside bench.
A 55-year-old Cleveland man clobbered the curb on Crocker Rd. with his 2005 Chrysler PT cruiser on Christmas Eve at 9:18PM, flattening both passenger side tires and causing the airbag to deploy. He was arrested for OVI and Failure to Control. He refused to take a breath test.
The Christmas package found by Westlake Service Dept. workers on Dec. 17 was correctly identified and returned to Santa Claus’s duly deputized agent on Christmas Eve.
