St. John Medical Center is known for its compassionate care of community. But did you know that SJMC also takes care of its own?

The Hope Fund is a hospital resource put in place by employees to assist other hospital employees financially when they have emergency needs.

Organized by Ron Streng and Gary Styles, both maintenance workers at SJMC, this year’s summer golf outing was held at Mallard Creek Golf Course on Aug. 8.

“We raised a phenomenal amount of money,” said Sr. Kendra Bottoms of the SJMC Ministry team. “Almost $9000. And our people, like Christie Richings, who is in charge of our kitchen, donated her time along with her sister and a friend. They cooked all the food!”

“We had just a bunch of our people who volunteered in all sorts of ways,” said Sr. Kendra. “Our people stood up and stood behind the people who work here because that is what we do. We stand up and support our people. That is what the Hope Fund is all about.”
