On 09/02/15, at 12:20am, A Bay Village Police Officer was on patrol in the area of Dover Center and West Oviatt Roads when he noticed a male, a 19 year old, Bay Village resident, who was stumbling around and appeared to be intoxicated. The officer spoke with the male and attempted to place him under arrest. During this attempt, the suspect male struck the officer twice in the face. He then fled toward his home on Knickerbocker Road. Officers chased the male and arrived after the suspect made it inside. Police spoke with the suspect’s mother who would not open the door for police. After numerous warnings and ample time to comply, the door was breached and the male and his mother were placed under arrest. Both are facing charges in Rocky River Municipal Court.
Road Rage Incident Leads to Auto Stalking
On 09/04/15 at 6:50am, a distraught female caller called BVPD to report she was being followed in her car by another car with a male operator. She stated she began making evasive turns but he was still there. The caller stated the male began to follow her after she honked at him while waiting at a traffic light. She was advised to drive straight to the police department. While en route, the suspect vehicle stopped following her.
The Bay Village Police would like to remind residents that if they are ever in a road rage incident, or are being followed, to drive to the nearest police station. They should call the police department on the way there and let them know what is happening.
On 09/06/15 at 3:08am, a Bay Village Police Officer stopped a vehicle on Lake Road, near Pinewood Road for an equipment violation. The officer spoke with the female operator, a 26 year old Westlake resident. The officer suspected the female was under the influence of alcohol. The operator failed field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest. On station, the operator provided a breath sample which showed a .125% BAC. She is currently facing charges in RRMC.
