At approximately 2:30 a.m. on Sept. 14, a resident of Southbridge Circle. spotted a male prowling around a neighbor’s yard. Westlake and North Olmsted officers set a perimeter in the area after the suspect ran towards Dunford Drive. The suspect got away. 6 homes and 10 cars were found to have been spray-painted on the named streets, as well as Brockway Dr. and Fall River Dr.
One victim provided CCTV footage of some of the suspect’s depredations; he was recognized by a Westlake Police Officer as 26-year-old Fadi Lahoud, who lives in that Westlake neighborhood. He was found at home that afternoon, admitted to being the culprit, and was arrested.
The damages easily run into the tens of thousands of dollars and include the besmirching of a 70-year-old man’s newly poured driveway and newly installed garage door with the words “Duck man.” Lahoud is currently in the Westlake City Jail and faces 12 cts of Criminal Damage and 12 cts of Criminal Trespass in Rocky River Municipal Court.
After a WPD sergeant recalled similarities to the breaking of windows and spray-painting of the Jehovah Witnesses building (29171 Center Ridge Rd.) on Aug. 27, 2014, he asked LAHOUD about that incident. LAHOUD admitted to that vandalism as well. Additional charges may be forthcoming.
