Avon High School ‘Meet The Directors Night’

Avon High School is proud to announce two new directors for the 2015-2016 school year. The school is hosting a “Meet the Directors Night” Oct. 7 at 7 p.m. in the AHS Community Room, 37545 Detroit Road.

The Avon Choir and Drama Booster meeting will directly follow the introduction of the new directors. Guests are encouraged to support the performing arts and stay for the meeting to learn valuable information about the booster organization.

AHS new director bios:

Meghan Cvetic, Drama Director – Cvetic is a 2008 graduate of Avon High School, where she was avidly involved in the Drama Club, plays, musicals, and set construction programs. She continued her theatre education and graduated from Michigan State University in 2012 with double degrees in Theatre, and Arts and Humanities. At MSU, she stage managed the collegiate première of Legally Blonde the Musical, Return to the Upright Position: The 9/11 Testimony Project, and Boom. After graduation, she returned home and has been working in the Cleveland area at many local theaters. Meghan was recently the stage manager for Lorain Community Music Theater’s production of Mary Poppins. Other credits include stage manager for Olmsted Performing Art’s productions of Mary Poppins and Jekyll and Hyde: The Musical; Lorain County Music Theater’s stage manager for Annie, and Hairspray; The Cleveland Play House’s production assistant for The Philadelphia Story, The Three Sisters, Too True to be Good, Twelfth Night, and The Misanthrope.

Emilio Jarufe, Choir Director- Jarufe is in his first year as Director of Choirs in the Avon Local Schools. As a native of the Cleveland area, he is ecstatic to be back teaching in an area that has given him so much, and is so close to his heart. Studying under internationally-known soprano, Noriko Fujii, Jarufe attended Cleveland State University earning a bachelor’s degree in Music Education.  An avid vocalist and percussionist, Jarufe is very active singing and playing professionally and for leisure. Jarufe has been a member of the Cleveland Orchestra Chorus and Symphony West. He was on staff at North Olmsted City Schools as the Drum Line instructor.  His passion as an educator and musician continues to grow as he is beginning to make himself at home in Avon.
