Donations for Bay Food Ministry will be Collected
Westside Christian Academy presents the 2015 Family Strong Series: Illusion & Truth with Christian Illusionist, Brett A. Myers and his wife Labrina. The event is free and the public is invited for a night of comedy, audience participation, and sleight of hand for all ages.
This year’s event will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2015 at 7 pm at Bay Presbyterian Church, 25415 Lake Road Bay Village, Ohio 44140. Doors will open at 6:30pm. Attendees are asked to consider bringing a non-perishable food or toiletry item to donate to the Bay Food Ministry.
“We’re excited to present our third Family Strong Series event as a gift to community which children, teens, and adults can enjoy together on a Saturday night without touching the family budget,” said Jim Whiteman, headmaster of Westside Christian Academy. “Plus as a culture we’ve grown accustomed to seeing virtual worlds and spectacular effects in our movies and online entertainment, seeing what appears to be impossible live in front of us will challenge our senses.”
As the audience watches, Mr. Myers will explain how he overcame fear and anxiety and discovered the true source of peace and fulfillment as he shares his personal story and the Gospel. A video showing some of his illusions can be found on the Family Strong website at www.familystrongcleveland.org.
Mr. Whiteman also expects that the attendees will take home a number of topics to begin important conversations in their families.
“The understanding of absolute truth is disappearing in our culture. We should look for opportunities to engage our children in discussions of truth, falsehood, illusion, and relativism,” said Mr. Whiteman.
Bay Food Ministry Donations will be Collected
“It’s so easy for us to focus on our own family’s needs during the normal course of life,” said Tiffany Yessayan, the Family Strong Committee Chair. “Everyone on the committee jumped at the idea to not only provide families with a great night out at no cost but also to help families in our community who are experiencing difficulties. We hope that partnering with the Bay Food Ministry to collect items before the event will be a great blessing to those they serve.”
The Bay Food Ministry helps Bay Village residents and members of the church who meet State of Ohio income guidelines. Items such as egg noodles, soup, peanut butter, children’s cereal, canned fruit, bar soap, toothpaste, and bathroom tissue are needed. Cash donations, checks payable to Bay Presbyterian Church, and gift cards will also be accepted. For more details about the program, please contact Bay Presbyterian Church at (440) 871-3822.

Westside Christian Academy is an inter-denominational classical and Christian school with a Grammar School for K-6 and a Upper School for Grade 7 through high school in Cleveland’s western suburb of Westlake. Our mission is to integrate biblical truth with academic excellence so that our students will become leaders who are committed to impacting the world for Jesus Christ. We partner with Christian parents in raising their children “in training and instruction of the Lord” (Ephesians 6:4)
Using a classical curriculum and methodologies, our academic program includes a strong emphasis on grammar, logic, rhetoric and Latin as well as history, science, mathematics and the arts. Through a lens of a Biblical worldview grounded in the Old and New Testament Scriptures, we teach children to think and learn for a lifetime, cultivate Biblical character and leadership, and strive to shepherd a child’s heart, not just behavior.
The student-teacher ratio is favorable with class sizes that average 12. WCA is a member of the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) and The Association of Classical Christian Schools (ACCS).
