Avon Lake Police: Attempted Abduction of 12-Year Old Girl Reported

Avon Lake PoliceMonday, November 2, 2015 – The Avon Lake Police responded to the area of Grove Street and Vanda Avenue after receiving a complaint of an attempted abduction. The victim (12 year old female) states that as she was walking to school, a white van pulled up next to her and a white male asked her if she needed a ride. The victim claims that after the male exited his vehicle and tried grabbing her arm, she kicked him and ran back to her residence.

The suspect is described as a white male in his mid-twenties, wearing blue jeans, a dark blue North Face jacket with a black knit hat. The vehicle in question is reported as being a white panel van with rust showing around the rear doors and bumper area.

Responding officers immediately searched the area, but were unable to locate any vehicles matching the description as provided by the victim. No other witnesses have come forward, and there have been no other reported attempts. Update: Avon Lake Kidnapping Report is ‘Inaccurate’

Avon Lake, Ohio, Monday, November 2nd, 2015 – Earlier on today’s date the Avon Lake Police Department released information in regards to an alleged attempted child abduction. Further investigation has since revealed that the event as initially reported was inaccurate and embellished. As a consequence, police will be working with the parents of the reporting juvenile to determine the best course of action.

“The Avon Lake Police Department treats all allegations involving the safety of our children seriously, and will do our best to maintain a high level of visibility in and around our schools,” report Police.
