A dedication ceremony took place at Heritage Elementary School, 35575 Detroit Road, Avon, Wednesday, Nov. 11 at 3:30 p.m. to honor the memory of former fifth-grade teacher, Cyndi Michelich.
A special “reading corner” in a prominent area of the North Media Center will serve as a permanent symbol of her dedicated service to the school district.
“Cyndi served with great distinction as an educator and colleague on the Heritage Campus for many years, and passed away a little over a year ago,” said Jason Call, Heritage Elementary School principal.
Michelich, 50, passed away Sept. 26, 2014.
Family, friends and co-workers celebrated the life and legacy of Mrs. Michelich at the ceremony.
Cindy’s mother was deeply touched and was overwhelmed at the attention to detail the space encompasses. The Adirondack chairs reminded her of the many family vacations taken to Myrtle Beach.
The rocking chair in the room was Michelich’s chair.
There are special books on the shelves in the reading area which include inscriptions by students/friends/co-workers.
