Pilgrim Days

During the month of November, second-graders in Jill Jiovanazzo’s class at Avon East Elementary School on Nagel Road have been talking about the Pilgrims’ trip to the new world. Students have been reading ‘Little House in the Big Woods,’ and they went on a field trip to the Western Reserve Historical Society to learn about the Early Settlers.

The culminating activities were Colonial Day centers where students made candles, butter, and journey cakes. The centers took place the morning of Mon., Nov. 23, just in time for Thanksgiving week.
