Last month students at Avon East Elementary School raised money for the Lorain County Special Olympics. The students also learned about the Special Olympics throughout the month. The goal was to raise $500. The students surpassed the goal and raised $1,338.61. As a ‘thank you’ for their donations, the students received a dance party at the school. The money raised will be used to send Avon students with special needs to the Lorain County Special Olympics in May. The event is for students from Kindergarten through 12th-grade. In May, students with special needs will compete in track and field events against other school districts throughout the county.
