Aggravated Robbery Suspect Arrested in Avon Lake

Avon Lake, Ohio, December 11th at 9:33pm – Avon Lake Police responded to a report of an aggravated robbery of the China King Restaurant located at 375 Lear Rd.

A white male with facial hair, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with an eagle emblem, entered the restaurant, brandished a gun toward an employee, and demanded money from the cash register.

Interviews with several witnesses along with video surveillance footage led officers to a nearby housing complex at 371 Lear Rd, Maximum Independent Living. The robbery suspect, hiding in the complex, was located and taken into custody without incident. Money believed to be from the restaurant, and the pellet gun used during the commission of the robbery, were recovered at the location of his arrest.

The 35 year old Christopher Godzich of Sheffield Lake was charged with Aggravated Robbery and is being held at the Lorain County Jail for his initial appearance at the Avon Lake Municipal Court onTuesday December 15, 2015.
