Live in Westlake – Jazz, Musical Theater Numbers

MichaelCefaloRisingStar-1On Tuesday, February 16, the Westlake-Westshore Arts Council presents a musical program featuring the talents of Baldwin-Wallace Music Theatre major Mike Cefalo. This is the fourth year that the WWAC is sponsoring “Catch a Rising Star…Baldwin Wallace Music Theater in Recital.” Cefalo’s program is at 7 p.m. at Porter Public Library, 27333 Center Ridge Road.

Cefalo said he will do a set of jazz standards, classical musical theater songs (Brigadoon, Anything Goes, Guys and Dolls, etc.), a few 1950’s Frankie Valli-esque tunes, and some contemporary musical theater along with pop songs.

The Pittsburgh, PA native, who was attracted to Baldwin-Wallace University by its Music Theatre program, said he was drawn to theater at a very early age and describes it as “the most joyous part of my life.”

One of many positive reviews he earned for his 2015 performance in ‘Singin’ in the Rain’ in Albany, NY said “The very best thing about ‘Singin’ in the Rain’ at Park Playhouse is Michael Cefalo as Cosmo Brown…Cefalo, who’s still a college student and was found during a group audition, gives a star-making turn as Cosmo.”

The February 16 performance is offered FREE to the community by the WWAC. This opportunity to enjoy a young, talented performer embodies the WWAC mission to provide the community with an enhanced and broadened cultural life that will promote awareness, education and involvement in the arts.
