Phony IRS phone calls are springing up again, report Westlake Police.
Like premature swallows returning to San Juan Capistrano, the at-least biannual spate of phony IRS calls started to come in last week. About 10 voice mail messages were left for local residents instructing the recipient to call a number in the 202 area code (Washington. DC) to make payment arrangements and forestall an arrest. One caller reported getting 2 such calls in a day.
Similar telephonic plagues occurred twice in 2015 in Westlake. Nobody is out any money.
