The Age of Love: Senior ‘Speed Dating’ Documentary to be Featured at Westlake Senior Center

AgeofLoveMoviePosterWestlake Community Services is excited to jump into the new age of senior dating with the showing of an independent film, “The Age of Love.”

The film is a documentary about 70-90 year olds looking for love. The documentary will be shown on Friday, February 12th at 1 p.m. at the Westlake Senior Center.

After the viewing, Director Lydia Gadd will be facilitating a discussion on the film.

Director Steven Loring spoke with The Villager recently about the making of the film. “The world is aging and the old system of three generations and then a few golden years doesn’t really exist any more,” he said. “People are living into their 80’s and 90’s and enjoying healthy, active lives and they are looking to continue to grow emotionally.

“Society has not yet defined the fourth generation yet, what they want and need. But the search for love doesn’t change no matter how old you become. The film is meant to open eyes and to start defining what is in the hearts of older people that we haven’t heard before.”

Loring says he is getting calls from all over the world about the film. “Every culture is facing this shift,” he says. “The movie is really about what doesn’t change over our lifetime – the idea that being seen and understood by someone else is important regardless of whether our skin is wrinkled or our hair is gray.”

Along with the showing, the Center will be having a scheduled Mix & Mingle on Wednesday, March 2nd at 1 p.m. This will be an opportunity for people in this age bracket to meet.
