Nimrods Named in Avon Lake Deer Deaths

POLICE_Avon Lake_RGBTwo Avon Lake men are being charged with multiple offenses related to killing deer within City limits.

During the last couple of months, the Avon Lake Police have responded to multiple calls involving dead deer having wounds consistent from those made by an arrow. While the causing factor was unknown, it was determined that none of these deer were part of the City’s deer culling program.

On January 2, 2016, the Avon Lake Police responded to another dead deer call near the intersection of Redwood and Woodstock. Upon arrival, officers were able to obtain witness information which provided details regarding a suspect vehicle which in turn lead to the development of two possible suspects.

As a result of the joint investigation between the Avon Lake Police Department and the Ohio Division of Wildlife, the suspects have been identified as Adam Petrella [26 yoa] and Andrew Smith [25 yoa].

In addition to other sanctions and fines being sought after by the Ohio Division of Wildlife, both men are being charged by the Avon Lake Police Department for Hunting Violations and Animal Cruelty. Andrew Smith also faces charges for Shooting a Bow within City limits.
