POLICE_Westlake_DisclaimerDesperation, heartache and crime follow those who wind up addicts. Don’t start. Here’s what can happen:

One handgun, two shotguns, liquor, coins, fishing tackle, cash, and ammo were stolen from a King James Pkwy. residence, report Westlake Police. They were taken in the period Dec. 2015 through Feb. 5, 2016. Drug addict family members are suspected. The loss is estimated at $3000.00.

Lakewood men aged 28 and 40 returned meat stolen from the North Olmsted Aldi’s to the Westlake Aldi’s on Feb. 9. The older man was arrested for RSP and Possession of Criminal Tools (an Aldi’s shopping bag).  He claims he is not a hype despite the track marks on his arms and the wrappers for an anti-addiction drug on his person, say Police.  The younger man (an admitted junkie) had a hypo in his pocket and was arrested for Drug Abuse Instruments, Theft by Deception, and Complicity to RSP; he also has felony warrants from Westlake and Cleveland PDs.

Too Drunk to Drink

Stealing $14 worth of beer and other items on Feb. 5 led to the OVI and Petty Theft arrest of a 50-year-old Westlake man. He was too drunk for the clerk of a Dover Center Rd. gas station to permit the sale, so the suspect stole a 12 pack. He was stopped nearby and found to be so intoxicated that he was taken to St. John Medical Center by WFD. He refused a blood test.

Repent and Hear the Gospel of the Lord

Some Lenten advice for certain Westlake church visitors: A 33-year-old Westlake woman was knocked around by a 40-year-old North Olmsted man on Feb. 7. He punched her several times and then threw her out of the car they were in at a Detroit Rd. church.  She is also pregnant by the suspect. The City Prosecutor will consider an Assault charge.

An intoxicated 60-year-old Cleveland man wandered around a Clague Rd. church on the afternoon of Feb. 9. He has previously been warned twice and arrested once for Trespassing there. He was collared again for DCI, Open Container, and Trespass.

Laundromat Violence

A 25-year-old Cleveland woman was washing clothes at a Detroit Rd. laundromat on Feb. 8. Her 24-year-old boyfriend of Westlake (and father of her two children) hit her in the face as they argued in the parking lot. She ran to another business where two chivalrous witnesses admitted her and locked the suspect out. He threatened them all and went back to his house. He was arrested there for DV and Menacing.

A 58-year-old Ashbourne Dr. woman may have been snookered into giving her ID and credit card info to a questionable emailer on Feb. 2. She closed her credit card account before losing any money.

Car Troubles

An Uber driver’s meandering fare led to the DCI arrest of a 51-year-old Bay Village man on Feb. 8. The intoxicated passenger had gone into a Detroit Rd. store and not come back out after an hour’s joyride. The driver called WPD and then left.

A 2010 Ford Fusion caught fire on I90 near Cahoon Rd. on Feb. 8 at 4:18AM. The IL female driver was not injured and was dropped off at the Greyhound station in Cleveland; the car was towed. On Feb. 11, the owner called WPD reporting that it had been stolen from him during the Super Bowl broadcast by that female and that he reported the theft to Cleveland PD later on Feb. 8.

Officers went looking for a 45-year-old man at his former S. Bay Dr. address on Feb 8. He had a felony warrant for his arrest. He drove up while the officers checked for him; he is also under a TPO that prohibits him from being at his former home. He was additionally charged with violating that TPO.
