Westlake Community Police Academy Starts March 2: Learn How WPD Does its Job

Westlake Community Police Academy (March 2- May 11): Participants will get hands-on experience (literally) in crime scene processing, self-defense, & firearms instruction Other topics include K-9 operations, SWAT, OVI apprehension, law enforcement technology and detective bureau investigations. This is a great opportunity to see how WPD runs and what the Officers are trained to do with the goal of building a stronger partnership between the Community and the Police Department through education and understanding. It’s NOT designed to assist those seeking to pursue a career in law enforcement.

Limited to 20 students and meets every Weds 6:30 PM to 9:30 PM for 11 weeks (March 2 – May 11 the last being the graduation ceremony). Participants must be at least 21 years old and have no criminal record. Preference will be given to those applicants that live or work in Westlake.
