Patients aged 18 and over will be seen in Dr. Gholam’s office located in Suite 101 of the Gates Medical Building on the UH Elyria Medical Center campus.

Hepatology is the study, diagnosis, prevention and treatment of diseases of the liver. Dr. Gholam is board-certified in gastroenterology, internal medicine and transplant hepatology. His special interests include treatment of hepatitis B and C, fatty liver disease, cirrhosis, alcoholic liver disease, liver cancer and the care of patients who require liver transplantation.

“We are excited to bring full service sub-specialty hepatology care closer to home to the residents of Lorain County and surrounding areas. We anticipate that all diagnostic tests and treatments will be provided on-site through UH Elyria Medical Center’s excellent facilities. This will alleviate the need for long commutes in a setting that the community has trusted for decades. Patients who require medical and surgical treatment for advanced disease such as those who have liver cancer or need a liver transplant will have their care expedited in coordination with our nationally recognized teams at UH Digestive and Transplant Institutes,” said Dr. Gholam.

In addition to the new Elyria location, Dr. Gholam practices at UH Case Medical Center in Cleveland and UH Westlake Health Center. Dr. Gholam is also an Associate Professor of Medicine at the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine and the Medical Director of the Liver Center of Excellence at UH Digestive Health Institute.
