FYI: Opera’s 25th Season Ends on High Note

W-WAC_LogoOn Tuesday, March 29, at 7:30 p.m. at Westlake Porter Library, 27333 Center Ridge Road, an excellent program will mark the close of FYI: Opera’s 25th season. The Westlake-Westshore Arts Council continues to gift the community by offering this excellent FYI: Opera program without charge.

The program offers a wonderful blend of music and voices that previews the Cleveland Institute of Music Opera Program “Sensational Scenes from Operas – Grand and Light.”

CIM Opera Artistic Director David Bamberger brings four stars of recent CIM productions.  Caroline Bergan and Matthew Maisano, Susanna and the Count in Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro, will reprise selections from Mozart’s “Figaro” and will also present highlights from the opening scene of Jules Massenet’s opera, Manon.

Renée Richardson and Benajmin Liu, who sang the title roles in the CIM production of Hector Berlioz’s enchanting Beatrice and Benedict, will sing a duet from that opera. In addition these gifted voices will perform other treasured arias.

Bamberger will narrate the performance and the singers will be accompanied at the piano by John Simmons, the Music Director of “Sensational Scenes”.

The March 29 program provides an inviting sample of CIM’s fully costumed production of “Sensational Scenes from Operas – Grand and Light”, which will be performed April 15, 16 & 17 at CIM’s Kulas Hall in University Circle.  Information and tickets for CIM’s production are available at cim.edu/events/tickets.php or call 216-795-3211.
