Avon Lake Eaglet Update: One Baby Missing

Avon Lake Schools report that one eaglet appears to have gone missing from the nest at Redwood School.

As of last week, the mother Eagle had laid three eggs, a rare event, since often eagles lay only two, or if they lay a third, it usually does not hatch.

“We have noticed that one of the eaglets has not been in the nest, and we have reason to believe that it may have died. If a third eagle is born, the first week is critical because the other two dominate the feedings,” reports the school.

“We will continue to watch the remaining two eaglets.”
