Peter Miller House Museum Committee welcomes the community to this Summer tours of the museum and programs. The first program will be Monday, June 13 at 7 p.m. Dave Dibbell, Avon Lake deer and wildlife photographer will present “Avon Lake’s Deer & Wildlife.” He has been photographing wildlife in the tiny woods, Kopf family Reservation, for a decade. Dibbell has chronicled the cycle of antler growth of the big buck deer in Avon Lake for decade. One of his favorite buck deer is “Long Tine.” At 6:30 p.m., a member of the committee will guide you on a tour of the museum and gardens. The wild, herb and fence gardens are being taken care by the members of the Avon-on-the-Lake Garden Club. The Ohio and Avon Lake Historical Museum is located in the southwest corner of the Miller Park, next to the Avon Lake Boat Landing at 33740 Lake Rd., Avon Lake, OH. Admission is free and open to everyone.

Second program will be Monday, June 20 at 7 p.m. Mike and Georganne Wachter will present “Lake Erie’s Unsolved Mystery: the Marquette & Bessemer No.2” – the holy grail of Lake Erie shipwrecks hunters since it was lost in the great storm of December 1909. This 350 ft steel car ferry left Conneaut, OH for Port Stanley, Ontario loaded with rail cars of coal and one passenger, who was rumored to have $50,000 in case in his brief case. Where is the wreck of the M&B #27? They will discuss clues for locating car ferry with you during their presentation. Come for the 6:30 p.m tour, a member of the committee will guide you on a trip through the museum and gardens. Third program for June will be Monday, June 27 at 7 p.m. Nick Newsome, Cargill Employee, will be presenting “Cleveland Cargill Salt Mines Under Lake Erie” Newsome will be giving the summary of the 50 year old salt mine history and how it works. Another learning program just for you. Come and enjoy. Be sure to come for the 6:30 p.m. tour, a member of the committee will guide you on a trip of the museum and gardens.
