Q-Lab Corporation, located in Westlake’s Industrial Park area at 800 Canterbury Road, is a global provider of material durability testing products.

President Doug Grossman, whose father – George – founded the company in 1956 – travels internationally as part of his work. Every time he comes home, he brings a deep appreciation for life in the United States and the quality of our communities.

Basic to the security of our life is the presence of the best police and fire protection anywhere in the world, right here in Westlake.

In that light, Q-Lab hosted a Safety Forces Cookout last week for Westlake Police and Firemen for a day of good food and camaraderie on the Q-Lab campus.

Q-Lab’s Lori Foss welcomed Westlake Police Intern Nick Joughin, Captain Guy Turner and Mayor Dennis Clough.

“We invited the Westlake Police and Fire Departments along with members of the City government to show appreciation for what the organizations not only do for the businesses in the area, but also for the residents,” said Mr. Grossman. “We have the opportunity to travel internationally in our work, and the quality of the safety forces we have in our community is not something we want to take for granted. There is nothing else like it anywhere in the world. These people do a lot for all of us, and they put their lives on the line every day when they report to work. We want to thank them.”

Q-Lab was founded over a half-century ago by George Grossman, then a young pilot in the US Air Corps who returned to civilian life after serving his country. He began his new career selling supplies and equipment to paint labs in the Cleveland area. It was the beginning of today’s multinational Q-Lab Corporation that designs and manufactures standard test substrates as well as weathering, light stability, and corrosion testers.

Through the years, Q-Lab Corporation has established the global standard for affordable, reliable, and easy to use weathering, lightfastness, and corrosion test equipment and test services. This philosophy and customer-first approach has made them “the most trusted name in weathering.”

In addition to its Westlake Global Headquarters, Q-Lab offers accelerated laboratory testing at Q-Lab Florida, Q-Lab Arizona, and Q-Lab Deutschland. Outdoor exposure testing for weathering, lightfastness and corrosion are available at Q-Lab Florida and Q-Lab Arizona. Q-Lab sales and distribution facilities are located in Manchester, England, Saarbrucken, Germany, and Shanghai, China. Q-Lab’s A2LA accredited laboratory and outdoor testing facilities are located in Homestead, Florida and Buckeye, Arizona. They have also just opened a new accelerated testing lab at their Saarbrücken, Germany location.
