Construction Worker Killed in Avon

The Avon Police Department is investigating a pedestrian death after an accident on Jaycox Road Monday afternoon, Aug. 15. The accident occurred just after 2 p.m.  in the construction zone on Jaycox Road, north of Middleton Drive. The pedestrian was a worker directing a dump truck, which was going in reverse. The man was hit by the truck and died from his injuries. The Ohio State Highway Patrol Commercial Vehicle Unit and the Lorain County Coroner’s Office were called to the scene. UPDATEThis update is to release the names of the subject involved in this incident as well as to release a statement on behalf of the family. Victim: Joseph R. Kelly, age 36, of Avon. Both victim and driver were working for KMU Trucking Inc. of Avon This investigation remains ongoing and there is no additional information to release at this time, report Avon Police.  At the request of the family of Mr. Kelly Avon Police are releasing the statement below:

“We are in an unimaginable amount of grief and shock as we mourn the loss of an amazing father of three, husband, son, brother, nephew, uncle and friend to many.
