This November, the Westlake City Schools have a unique opportunity to seek a bond issue and permanent improvement (PI) levy that won’t raise taxes. This issue will allow the schools to build one, centrally located elementary school to replace four aging buildings, and ensure a dedicated maintenance fund to protect the investment. This also will be the final phase of the district building plan, making certain all Westlake students are educated in modern educational spaces.
Refinancing and sound financial practices resulted in the expiration of some of the district’s current debt, which allows the district to pursue a 2.1-mill combined issue and not raise taxes.
