On the agenda for tonight’s Bay Village City Council meeting is a resolution supporting Bay Inter-Faith Housing, Inc. and PIRHL Developers, LLC on plans to preserve and redevelop Knickerbocker Senior Apartments.
The blockbuster news is expected to announce a multi-million funding opportunity that will see major upgrades to the venerable Knickerbocker.
These improvements will include renovations that will reconfigure the apartment’s efficiency units into one-bedroom suites. Central air conditioning will also be installed, eliminating the hundreds of window units there now. An enclosed indoor courtyard and atrium will also be part of the upgrade.
PIRHL Developers is located in downtown Cleveland and is a recognized leader in assisting municipal and community-based partners from the concept through completion of single family and multi-family affordable housing.
The Knickerbocker Apartments is a senior living facility near the corner of Knickerbocker and Dover Center Roads in Bay Village. Built in the ‘70’s, the Knickerbocker is operated by a consortium of Bay Village churches collectively known as Bay Interfaith Housing.
