Debit Card Scammed

On 120216, at 1717 hrs, an Eaton Way resident came to the station to report someone had withdrawn $3,800.00 from her bank account. On 112316, she had driven to southern Ohio. She used her bank debit card twice, once to get fuel at a gas station and once for an Uber ride. On 112516, she received an alert text on her mobile phone from her bank indicating someone had attempted to make a charge to the debit card she still had in her possession. Information was taken for a report to be forwarded to the detective bureau.

On 120116, at 13:30 hrs, the station received a report of a black vehicle apparently having difficulty negotiating a turn off of Lake Road onto Clague Road. A Bay Village officer just happened to be in the area on routine patrol and quickly stopped the 2014 Toyota. It was suspected that the female operator was driving while impaired. After failing the field sobriety tests, she was arrested. The 26 year-old Rocky River resident was processed and then released on personal bond to a sober adult.
