Westlake Police: When Talked Turned to Action

Talked turned into action in Westlake on Jan. 6 when a 29 year old Lorain man and his ex-girlfriend (a 27 year old Parma Hts. woman) met in a Center Ridge Rd. parking lot ‘to talk’, report Police.

Cars did the talking when words turned into action in Westlake.

Talk soon turned to action; she slapped him and then repeatedly rammed the 2013 Hyundai Sonata he was driving with her 2011 Mazda CX9, according to reports. She had her 19 month old son in her car at the time. The child was frightened but otherwise uninjured. Mom was not hurt. The male reported a sore neck but declined medical assistance. The female was arrested for Fel. Assault and Child Endangering. 696-KIDS was notified of the incident.

Ladies Night

-Jan. 7 was impaired Ladies (crash) Night in Westlake. A 30 year old North Ridgeville woman took out a pole on Center Ridge Rd. She was arrested for OVI (breath test result .163) and Failure to Control.

Snowbank, Car and Road Sign meet

-A 38 year old Fairview Park woman was stopped for speeding on I-90 eastbound. The front end of her 2016 Nissan Rogue was noted to be much the worse for wear. When asked to step out of the car, she fell into a snowbank and became irate. She refused a breath test after being arrested for OVI and cited for Speed and lane violations. It was later determined that she had crashed into a guardrail on the Rt. 611 eastbound onramp in Avon and left the scene.

Pet Bites Girl

A 12 year-old Bassett Rd. girl was bitten twice by the family’s basset-lab mix on Jan. 6. She was treated at St. John Medical Center each time. The dog has been placed under a 10day quarantine and the City Prosecutor will consider charges against the girl’s 42yoa mother/dog’s owner.

The 2017 Wall of Regrets is off to a fast start.

A 17yoa boy was living with his 56yoa grandma on Westown Blvd. when he misplaced his cellphone on Jan.8. He threw things around and tried to keep officers from entering her apartment. He persisted in cursing his stepmom and her friend who had come to take him for the night and flung open the building doors. He kicked two officers while being placed in a cruiser; a third officer hurt his back in the fracas. He was taken to the DH to face Disorderly Conduct/Persisting, Assault on Police Officers, Obstructing Official Business, and Resisting Arrest charges.

A ride service driver found a baggie of marijuana in her car after dropping off a fare on Jan. 7. The 21yoa Westlake man really wanted it back and called her repeatedly. She turned it into police instead. Later on, his father called WPD to their Forest Lake home and turned in more reefer. The 21yoa was cited for POM.

Son Charged with Theft

A 63yoa Remington Dr. woman reported that her 27yoa son took her debit card and used it 4x on Jan. 8 without permission. He charged $268; she cancelled the card and changed the locks on her apartment. Warrants for Theft and Misuse of Credit Card have been issued for the suspect.

Not Welcome

A 28yoa Westlake man showed up at his parents Sherwood Dr. home on Jan. 10, despite the TPO which forbids him to do so. His girlfriend picked him up, but since her father doesn’t want him around either, they headed to a Lakewood address. LPD was advised to BOLO the duo, but did not find them. A warrant for TPO Violation is being sought.

Thefts

-A $6000 jackhammer was stolen off a trailer sometime Jan. 5-7. The trailer had been parked in a Columbia Rd. lot.

-A Columbiana Co. couple’s phone was taken from a First St. business on Jan. 8. The locating software indicated it was at a Cleveland Hts. home; there was no answer at the door when CHPD knocked at the door.

-A 22yoa North Olmsted man had his $40 coat stolen from a Columbia Rd. business on Jan. 10 His car keys were in the pocket.

-A Walter Rd. man suspects his 34yoa female roommate took his debit card and made $219 in purchases on Jan. 11.

-An estimated $3000 worth of clothing was stolen from the Main St. Victoria’s Secret on Jan. 11. An employee heard the anti-theft system sound and saw the black female suspect drop some items as she exited the store. She first contacted corporate loss prevention before calling police.

-A stolen 2001 Jeep Cherokee stolen in Lakewood was recovered on Glen Valley Dr. on Jan. 12.

-4 pairs of sunglasses worth a total of $1035 were stolen from a Crocker Pk. Blvd. store on Jan. 12. Staff suspects a woman who was loitering in the display area took them and will copy the CCTV footage of her.

-2 sheds were found forced open at a Dover Center Rd. church on Jan. 12. Nothing is known to be missing.

-An 11yoa Westlake boy had $25 cash stolen from his unattended wallet at the Rec. Center gym on Jan. 12.
